Love your neighbors

Hey fam, This song is based off Colossians 3:12-17. In this passage Paul paints a beautiful picture of what Christian fellowship should look like. He tells the believers in Colossae that as christians we are called to "put on" tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering( patience), and love which binds all the qualities just mentioned. Obviously he is speaking metaphorically, for you cannot "put on" love. The metaphor is to get us to look at the condition of our heart. If we find that we are selfish, bitter, and arrogant, odds are we are not wearing( living out) the qualities Paul mentioned in verse 12. If we want to change our outfit do we leave the old clothes on and proceed to put on an entirely new out fit- shoes over our sandals, T-shirt over a sweater? No we have to take off the old outfit in order to put on the new outfit. So when Paul says "put on" these characteristics, he is also implying that you must take off whatever is currently on your heart. Naturally we all have the very opposite of what Paul listed because we are naturally workers of iniquity ( Psalms 51:5). However, when we repent and profess that Christ is Lord, He provides a new wardrobe for our hearts. We can now be humble and loving in our friendships! Yet I've been seeing, in the lives of my fellow believers, the very thing that I just established was impossible to do. I'm guilty as well! We act like we can pick who we are forgiving to, or that " we have no reason to love them because THEY don't deserve it, they're obnoxious and exasperating". Excuse me???? WE do not deserve grace, but God showed it to us. WHo are we to decide who should be forgiven and kindly treated! This legalistic and evil mindset has seeped into our our perception of Christian friendships, so I wrote this song to rebuke those who are living this luke-warm lifestyle and remind them that we were called to love our neighbors as Christ loved us, regardless of what they've done.

Verse 1: It makes me so sad when I reflect on friendships/ to clarify I'm talking about the ones that're Christians/ slander, gossip, busy-bodying are rampant/ no body can eva meet up to otha's standards/ iffa dude gets wrong he demands fairness/ iffa girl slips up all she gets is starin/ What happened to the kind mind-set of our Jesus Christ/ " a true friend is willing to sacrifice his life"/ know a days we bearly sacrafice time/ we live in a world full seagulls " mine, mine"/ sometimes we laugh, or say this fact is true/ yet when we repent we still treat our friends like poo/nah I ain't trying to condemn you guys/ I'm just reachin out to those who are livin lies/ professin to love the precious name Yeshuah/ but when it comes to His people yall couldn't be rudder!

Chorus: We were commanded by our God/ to love our neighbors with all we got/ because our Lord said when we do this/ the whole world will see we are from Him! 2x

Verse 2: If you don't mind I'd like to consider Scripture/ I pray this hits ya/ it's real talk mane I hope it don't miss ya/let's filp the pages all the way to Colossians/ where apostle Paul writes to a group of lost men/ who thought Christianity was a bunch of laws son/ not the awesome captivating power of Christ/ they was more worried about fasting till night/ this demonic thinking seeped into friendships/ they was believing they should set standards/ look at ch. 3 to be exact verse 12/ we are to put on tender mercy not the passions of hell/ verse 13 paints the perfect picture/ how we should forgive, like Christ forgave us' Soo the right attitude is " Imma bear with ya cause I'm guilty, Imma selfish sinner"/ so drop all yo pride and serve you neighbor!

Chorus

Verse 3: Let's take some carful preliminary steps/ that can help avert this really big mess/ the heart if the issue is where our heart lies/ most cases it's this group of girls or guys/ the real problem/ we're all fallen/ every human's going to fail/ except the one who took the nails/ He is God Himself/ He can expunge you pride and put yo beef on the shelf/ because He is perfect and will neva let you down/ even when yo times of failure come around/ so there you have it perfection found in Christ/ don't make a habit demanding it from yo friend's life/ look at them how God's sees you/ a broken heart that needs atonement and forgiveness too/ Scriptures say that God will show no mercy/ to those who don't KNOW mercy/ so please guys I'm sick of seein it/ christian friendships havin mo drama than channel CNN/ look at yo evil heart and how God forgave it/ so when things start to spark you can forgive them!

Yahweh is Sovereign

This is a song I wrote obviously concerning God's sovereignty. Reason behind me writing this is because I feel that we as Christians, including myself, have the tendency to forget this crucial aspect about God. It is made evident in our lives when we try to take matters into our own hands and tell God what we think is best for us. In reality that is mockery and sin in the Father's eyes. Scripture says that God's ways will always be higher than ours, as well as His understandings ( Isa. 55:8-9). Instead of trying to live contrary to that, why not take comfort in that fact and lean on Him and trust in Him that He knows what is best. This song is to encourage believers to live like He is sovereign and to show unbelievers that God is not shaken by their refusal to comply to His word. Everything that happens is under His control and His will ultimately. Hit me up if you are troubled by God being Sovereign over everything.

Aye man we in a world that says it's all about you/ that you can whateva you set yo mind to/ this type of unfortunate mentality/ produces fruit that leads to brutality/ cats dissin and trickin to get what they want/ some go far to even oppose God!/ that's not the saddest thing about this sitch tho/ some think that they the baddest thing to eva live... WOW/ but God ain't disturbed by this bad behavior/ fo it is all His plan like the Passion of the Savior/ Read it! Scripture proclaims God's precious sovereignty/ Fo example why don't you go and read Psalms 33/ Tell me what you see/ is it not God's magnificent Sovereignty/ check it verses 1 through 9/ vividly describe/ how God formed the world from nuthin, check His word homie I ain't lyin/ verse 10 clearly states this/ " The Lord brings the counsel of nations to NUTHIN!" no body can frustrate the majestic King/ compared to God we're nuthin but pathetic beings/ in of an indelible Savior/ to alter our bad fallible behavior/ and our perception of this hard life/ He's the God-man, dawg He's Jesus Christ/ and don't complain about who God saves/ He's the potter we the clay/ who are we to say nay/ but look God ain't out to fry you/ the good news should make you cry dude/ so please acknowledge God's sovereignty/ before He cracks the sky don't believe me? just watch and see!
